Great, it's been ages since i've flown anything bigger than a C.
will be flying some of my swarm - so i guess i better get them painted.
Paul, is there any chance of taking the level 2 examination on the day?

Hi guys,

Going to need some help at the Feb launch.
Want to get a drap race photo of the upscale mosquito (BT50) against the maxi streak,
i'm not that great with a camera, and my camera is a basic point and shoot.
i would be really helpful if a few of you guys can bring a camera along and try and get an action shot, with several clicks i'm sure one of us will get a good shot.
also i would be good if we could get an album of photos of the day in general for the website.
i might be getting my new V2 skywards on a H as well

I do have a multishot mode on my camera. Will have to read manual again on how tio use it and get some practice on other launches before yours ;-)

Hi Sean, does it do multi shot, ie one after another in a row?

Going to get myself a new camera (have wife's permission), so i might be picking people's brains on the 21st.

The camera is a Konica Minolta Dimage Z5 5meg and 12x Optical. Now had it for 5 years.

It has many settings along with manual (No buld setting though). The camera has what you would call burst mode, it's called progressive framing on mine and has to main modes.

The first setting is press the button and you get upto 20 shots (less if you release the shutter button early), the other setting which is the one I use for rocketry keeps taking frames and storing them inside a buffer while the shutter button is pressed and upon releasing keeps a max of 20 last shots

So I press the shutter when the countdown hits two and then release just after the rocket has lifted off and always get the perfect liftoff shot. Usually I have  a choice of 7 photos from when the rocket motor ignites to when it has left the pad and the viewfinder.

When taking in this mode the frame size is approx 3meg.

If I have the money then my next choice is one of the Canon D models, 450D etc.

I see we are not listed on the UKRA site again for upcoming events.

Is that something I could do or does it require magic powers?

Getting close to the first launch date, what is everyone planning to fly? Anything new from the winter building period?
I'm aiming to:

Drag race the two rockets listed above.

Fly an Edmonds gliders - might be the Ecee Thunder with video cam on board, or my new Elcie - small glider.

Possibly the new V2

Might even have my 625% upscale mosquito finished by then, probably flying on one of the G80 motors that i got second hand.

I am not going to make it tomorrow, I was concerned about the state of the entrance to the site and getting stuck in the mud/slush mix. Paul told me yesterday that there was approx 2inches of snow on the ground so he suggested to me that we all could park on the road and not venture onto the field, however now looking at the weather on Metcheck we are in for another heavy snow fall tomorrow morning so I shall not be venturing out as I do not want to get stuck or slide causing damage to the car.

If anyone does make it there I hope the weather does not turn out to be to bad after all and you get some flying in.

Matt, I was going to pay the £90 for the hybrid gear tomorrow however will it be OK to wait to next month or I can paypal/cheque it for you.

Happy to wait until March - thanks for letting me know.
Weather been quite mild up here today so i'm hoping it will be okay on the field, wet ground = softer landings Grin

see you all tomorrow.

It was 5inches here in Malvern on Thursday (Was on main BBC as worse hit in the country) and there is still quite alot around me. You got off better than we did. It was chaos with cars everywhere sliding and a bumping. Glad I was walking.
